PECB (Professional Evaluation and Certification Board) provides training and certification programmes across information security, risk, continuity, AI governance, privacy, quality and related management-system standards.

The ISO/IEC 27001 family. From Foundation awareness to Lead Implementer for building the ISMS and Lead Auditor for auditing it. The reference stack for CISOs, GRC analysts and internal audit.
ISO 31000 and ISO/IEC 27005 paths plus EBIOS Risk Manager. From Foundation through Risk Manager to Lead Risk Manager. Note: ISO 31000 has no Lead Auditor; the path is Foundation, Risk Manager, Lead Risk Manager.
GDPR and beyond. Certified Data Protection Officer is the European reference, mapped onto ISO/IEC 27701 (privacy information management). Pairs with AI Act readiness for organisations handling personal data at scale.
The newest PECB family. ISO/IEC 42001 (AI management system) was published in late 2023 and Cyber Academy was one of the first European partners to deliver the cohort. AI Act readiness, AI risk and AI audit complete the path.

Career pathways
The certifications are not interchangeable. Here are the sequences we recommend depending on the role you are growing into.
The classic ISO 27001 journey: Foundation gives you the vocabulary, Lead Implementer builds the ISMS, Lead Auditor reviews and certifies it. The default progression for security teams owning the ISMS.
ISO 31000 Foundation, Risk Manager, Lead Risk Manager. No Lead Auditor on ISO 31000. Risk-focused practitioners can layer ISO/IEC 27005 Risk Manager for the IS-specific risk lens, plus EBIOS Risk Manager for a sectorised method.
ISO/IEC 42001 Foundation builds the vocabulary, Lead Implementer builds the AI management system, Lead Auditor audits it. Pairs with AI Risk Manager for the operational layer and with the EU AI Act readiness work.
ISO 27001 Lead Implementer plus Lead Cybersecurity Manager give you the operational depth. The Certified CISO track adds the strategic, board-level and supply-chain governance layer expected from senior leaders.

PECB runs a tiered partner programme. Cyber Academy has held Gold Partner status since 2021; PECB's official partner directory is the source for current status and authorised scope. Each course page and order summary identifies the official materials, exam access and credentials included.
Foundation gives you the language and the framework, 2 days, no real implementation. Lead Implementer (5 days) teaches you to build the ISMS, risk treatment, controls and evidence. Lead Auditor (5 days) teaches you to audit one. Most CISOs and security leads take Lead Implementer; internal auditors take Lead Auditor; both is common over 18 months.
ISO 31000 is a risk management guidance standard, not a certifiable management system. So PECB built Foundation, Risk Manager, Lead Risk Manager. We sometimes see prospects asking for ISO 31000 Lead Auditor; we tell them upfront the cert does not exist, and we point them to ISO/IEC 27005 Risk Manager or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor depending on the audit angle they need.
